Terms and Conditions

Very few athletes and families fully understand that an financial athletic scholarship is a contract with a number of conditions. We encourage you to read through the information thoroughly, but here are a few details to pay close attention to:

– The offer does not guarantee admission to the program.  You must still apply and accept the terms.
– You can lose your scholarship for bad behavior, absences, and violation of team rules.
– A scholarship does not guarantee a varsity position.
– An athletic scholarship is a FULL SEASON CONTRACT!

Financial Scholarship Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions are for participation in the sport of cheerleading with Utah Velocity Cheer. 

1. Amount of Scholarship:
a. There is no standard amount awarded for each participant. 

2. Qualification for Participation:
a. The athlete and family agrees to follow all rules and regulations established by the program as detailed in the Cheerleading Handbook and shall sign a supplementary agreement as required by the Head Coach.
b. All team members are required to attend team meetings, functions, practices, games and arriving on time for each. 
c. All team members will be expected to participate in team projects and to work on fundraising events.

3. Continuance and/or Discontinuance of Scholarship:
a. The athlete shall not have his/her scholarship discontinued prior to the end of the season for poor athletic performance.
b. The athlete shall not have his/her scholarship discontinued prior to the end of the season if the student is prevented from participating in the scholarship sport because of illness, injury or other genuine emergency.
c. The athlete may have his/her scholarship discontinued immediately if he/she becomes excessively absent or tardy.
d. The athlete may have his/her scholarship discontinued immediately if he/she voluntarily withdraws from the team or is dismissed from the team for just cause.
e. The athlete may have his/her scholarship discontinued immediately if he/she breaks any of the terms of this agreement; is found to have violated the rules established for the conduct of  cheerleaders at Utah Velocity Cheer as detailed in the Cheerleading Handbook or breaks any of the rules established by the Head Coach of the scholarship sport.
f. The athlete may have his/her scholarship discontinued immediately if he/she is discovered to have fraudulently misrepresented any information requested during the application process.
g. Discontinuance of the scholarship would mean the athlete would immediately be responsible for paying tuition balances in full.
h. Discussion of scholarships to other parties is not allowed and will result in his/her scholarship discontinued. 

4. Term of Scholarship:
a. Athletes can only apply once per year
b. Scholarship is valid for one season only (Spring or Fall not both)
c. Each scholarship is awarded on a case by case basis.

5. Acceptance of Scholarship Offer:
a. All scholarship offers will be sent vie email.
b. Failure to respond within this 3-day period may result in the scholarship offer being withdrawn and reassigned. You must accept your scholarship offer by the due date, as instructed in your offer email, to be eligible to receive discount.

6. Community Service:
a. All scholarship recipients are required to participate in community service for Utah Velocity Cheer. This includes coming in on Saturday’s for vacuuming or staying after to help the coach.

7. Additional Expenses:
a. Scholarship does not cover costs of uniform (Shell, Liner, Skirt, Briefs, Poms, or Bow)
